Leave Less Behind
Reading about fewer gadgets should not require a complicated trail of tracking tools.
What cookies and local storage do
Cookies are small values a browser can store and send back with relevant website requests. localStorage is a separate browser facility that allows a site to retain values on your device between visits. Both can remember preferences; neither is automatically necessary for a static article.
The editorial pages and script
The editorial page code and message-tool script do not set cookies or write to localStorage or sessionStorage. They do not include advertising, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party embeds. Navigation and scroll animations use temporary page state only.
The contact tool does not store draft messages in browser storage. A preview remains in the open page; a copied message goes to your clipboard; a downloaded message becomes a file you control. These actions are not cookies. Browser form restoration and clipboard syncing may operate independently of the site.
Separately supplied preference controls
If a consent panel is displayed by the site’s publishing system, it is separate from the editorial page script described above. That panel may remember your Accept or Essential Only choice in a cookie or local storage. Its notice should identify the storage it uses, its duration and any optional services it controls.
No optional analytics or advertising service is included in these editorial pages. Accepting a preference prompt does not, by itself, mean that such services are present. Any future optional service should be disclosed before it is activated where consent is required.
Hosting and browser behaviour
A hosting or security service may apply its own necessary technical measures. The page code does not define those measures or their retention periods. Browser caching of images, stylesheets and pages is also separate from tracking cookies and helps avoid downloading unchanged files repeatedly.
Managing stored information
You can inspect, block or clear cookies and site data through your browser’s privacy settings. Clearing this site’s data may reset a separately supplied consent preference, causing the panel to appear again. Use any preference controls offered by that panel to change a choice.
The reading pages and local message tool do not require optional cookies. Blocking clipboard access can prevent automatic copying; the tool will instead select the preview for manual copying. Downloaded text files and clipboard history must be removed separately through your device controls.
